The First Pool Day
Absolutely nothing brings me more joy than seeing my girls happy. And today – watching this one splash around having the best time and knowing that soon her sister will be splashing right alongside her – made me happy beyond words.
Things have been up and down here at Pauline Manor. The saying that “home renovations take twice as long and three times as much money as you expect” is not wrong by any stretch. Add on top of that some weather delays, supply issues, Pensacon weekend, and me rupturing an ear drum and then having an allergic reaction to the meds they gave me for it which cause itchy hives from head to toe (seriously) – the last couple of weeks have been a LOT.
We’ve had some rough days and have had nights where we headed back to Bobwhite wondering what on EARTH we were thinking getting ourselves into this… but every time we start feeling that way, a glimmer of hope and happiness appears – and today hearing the teenager say “oh my gosh, Mom… we really have a pool! This is AMAZING!!” was that glimmer.
Tomorrow we enlist the help of friends and family for another weekend full of prepping and *hopefully* moving our final things into Pauline. If all goes well, we will be all moved in by Sunday night and can wake up Monday morning new full-time residents at Pauline Manor.
Of course that only means that the prep work temporarily shifts to getting Bobwhite ready to rent by April 1st – but that’s ok. We work well under pressure
I feel a little sad as I sit here at Bobwhite for what will be one of the last nights here, but I’m so glad that we are able to keep this home where I rebuilt my life so solidly, and it excites me to know soon another family will get to feel the love that this home gives too.
