Fence Repair

Eight days after the storm – and things are getting back to normal 🙌🏻 Mike and I started very early this morning putting in the runners (intentionally stacking them for more support for my plants 🤣) and then this evening we finished putting up all of the pickets to make sure the puppies are securely corralled inside. We let them out and they went completely bananas running from one side of the yard to the other – so happy to not be on a leash anymore.

In between working on the fence, I used leftover roofing felt paper to begin the process of getting the ground around my raised beds ready for pea gravel. The felt paper is to help kill the weeds, deter some of the not-beneficial bugs, encourage the earthworms to stick to the raised beds, and make it easier to spread a few inches of pea gravel whenever we get around to getting that delivered 😁

Yesterday I spent several hours cleaning out the greenhouse and loved stopping in there today to visit the little seedlings I have (hopefully) germinating in there. It’s wild to me how a completely glass building with (currently) no roof can feel cooler once you step through the door. Just makes me more excited to get the rest of the old tanks removed and set up shelving to make it a truly usable space.

I’ve spent most of the last week outside – and while I have loved every minute, I’m excited to have a few days to work inside before I head to a conference on Monday.

We’re Mike and Lynsey Kmetz, a couple with five dachshunds and one very big project — restoring a 1908 Victorian we found on Zillow that’s now Pauline Manor. Nestled in Cantonment, FL, it’s where a micro-bakery, garden, and slow-steading lifestyle meet thrifted charm and a whole lot of heart. We’re keeping history alive—one loaf, petal, and project at a time.
