Decorating the Foyer
Finally hung this display in the foyer of Pauline Manor. The top piece was made by my father in law with 100+ year old wood – perfect for this house. The photograph is of Pauline Graupera Gonzalez – the woman that the street (and the home) is named after. And then the sketch of the house is from 2014 – my favorite photo I have found of this incredible home.
I still say daily “I can’t believe we really bought this house” – somedays it is said in awe and other days exasperation – but every day we work on making it just a little bit more “ours.”
This months big project was soffit and fascia after last months beautiful new roof. We did it in jet black which is just absolutely gorgeous. Different from the original, yes, but our goal has always been to respect the old while blending the new. I absolutely love it. We are slowly working our way down to having the entire exterior redone. It has been quite an undertaking.
On the inside we continue to hang shelves and pictures and decide what-goes-where. It’s amazing how we have so much more square footage in this home versus our last one, but finding the “space” for some things has been a bit of a struggle.
Still, it is coming together beautifully, and I am excited to soon host a dinner with some amazing women who have been a part of this home’s history. Happy Sunday friends.
