First Official Moving Day

There is no turning back now!

We officially started moving our things into Pauline Manor – starting with my office. This amazing desk weighs about a million pounds, but looks like it was made for this room! Mike found this amazing piece a few years ago at an auction and I have loved every second of working on it. I am so so happy that we were able to get it up the stairs and into this room!

We also moved our dining room furniture that has been in my family for four generations. This furniture was in every house that I remember my late grandmother living in. I do not remember the whole story of where it came from but I know the dining room table and chairs had belonged to her mother who I never met. When my grandmother passed away, it went to my mom, and then when Mike and I moved in together she passed it on to me. Today I nervously packed it into our truck and drove it to Pauline Manor… and it is like it was MADE for this room.

We will now be working from Pauline Manor but sleeping at the Bobwhite house. Moving room by room has been nice because there has really not been any major stress and I’ve been putting things away as I take them over so I’m not living in a sea of boxes… but now we are kind of at the point where we don’t have enough “life” stuff either place to be “comfortable.”

This was the plan though – and makes sure we keep moving forward on getting everything into Pauline so that we can start renting Bobwhite. I am not sure we have ever been so tired and happy at the same time.

We’re Mike and Lynsey Kmetz, a couple with five dachshunds and one very big project — restoring a 1908 Victorian we found on Zillow that’s now Pauline Manor. Nestled in Cantonment, FL, it’s where a micro-bakery, garden, and slow-steading lifestyle meet thrifted charm and a whole lot of heart. We’re keeping history alive—one loaf, petal, and project at a time.
