A Fifth Set Of Paws
When I awoke this morning to let out our herd of four dachshunds, I never imagined by nighttime I would have a herd of five. But about midday, while working on putting up fence posts, I got a text… Lando's littermate needed a home.
I showed Mike the text and just stayed quiet… the last thing we needed was another puppy. (Lando hasn't slept through the night yet!) But she's “family”…
Mike just let out a sigh and said… “go get her.”
I went and picked her up – not even making the time for a shower from putting up the fencing. She was absolutely perfect in the car – but you could tell she was scared and did not like leaving with me.
However when I got home with her it was like a family reunion… the herd of four quickly took to her, Lando leading the pack in a two hour play sesh that wore everyone out.
For the last three puppies I have said “this is our last one” – so I won't say it this time – but when I see stuff like this, I realize there was absolutely no way that I could have said no.
Welcome to the family, Fiona.
